When I booked my trip to Calgary, I had no idea where to stay. The International Hotel came up in my search right away and seemed to be in a perfect location. It’s in the middle of a city, and an easy walk to anywhere you’d want to go. If you need to go further, it’s only a few blocks away from the rapid transit system.
I was lucky enough to stay in the Orchid Level Ladies Suite, which is perfect for a weekend in the city with your girlfriends. There’s a large dining area, living room, and king-size bed in the bedroom with French doors. They even had a complimentary bowl of snacks and white wine – they clearly know women well!
The bedroom was amazing. Not only did it have doors to close for privacy, but the bed was extremely comfortable. There was a plush robe to use in the closet, along with a yoga mat and exercise ball. I thought that was so thoughtful, as it can be hard to fit in exercise during traveling sometimes. They also have a gym available downstairs.
I forgot to take a picture of the breakfast area – probably because I hadn’t had my coffee yet. A continental breakfast is available for free with your stay, but it felt like you paid for it with the service you got. Someone was always there right away to usher me to a table and another to pour me fresh coffee. In addition to dry cereal and fruit, they had a meat selection, eggs, and a waffle making section. One morning I sat at the bar stool area instead of a table, and they had iPads at each station to read the news with or look up your plans for the day. I’d never seen that before!
Overall, I was very impressed with the customer service from the International Hotel. The general manager was quick to respond to any questions I had, and the concierge was helpful in giving me directions. I loved how close it was to everything and that I was able to walk anywhere. They do have a really nice looking lounge area on the first floor as well, although I was too tired from walking around each day to stay up for a drink. I would love to stay here again next time I’m in town!
I was a guest of the International Hotel, but all opinions are my own.
